After growing up vacationing on the Jersey Shore, Jacqueline Ramahlo (30 and in advertising sales marketing) and John Maher (34 and an advertising account executive) had the perfect place in mind to tie the knot. The couple said “I do” and celebrated the occasion at Bonnet Island Estate in Manahawkin, New Jersey, on Long Beach Island. “It was the perfect backdrop for a mini getaway for our friends and families coming from near and far,” Jacqueline says. “We loved that the entire weekend would take place on the estate and that the spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, after-party and brunch were on different parts of the property.”
The couple exchanged vows on the estate’s seaside chapel ceremony, which was decorated with white flowers, greenery and candles. With its whitewashed wooden interior, stone fireplace and ocean views, the chapel was love at first sight for the couple. “When we walked out of the chapel, we both turned to each other smiling so hard, and John said, ‘I could see us getting married here.’”
The couple celebrated with dinner and dancing in the estate’s ballroom, which had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Jersey Shore. They decked out the elegant space in lush floral arrangements, gold accents and a palette of cream, blush and navy blue. “Since we were got married at the beach, we wanted the decor to feel light and nautical but also very classic and elegant,” Jacqueline says. —Marissa Hermanson
