Your sweetie has popped the question – congratulations! Before you jump into the exciting world of wedding planning, start by celebrating your love with beautiful engagement photos. Couples who live in or near New York City have a distinct advantage; there are few places more picturesque and glamorous than the Big Apple! Here are my
Top 6 NYC Engagement Photos Locations
1. Central Park
For classic NYC engagement photos, Central Park is the place! I like to meet couples at the boathouse so they can share a quick champagne toast before starting their engagement session. One of my favorite spots in Central Park is Bethseda Terrace with its awe-inspiring arches and mountain. There is just something so quintessentially New York and wonderfully romantic about Central Park engagement photos. The park has a variety of beautiful architecture and breathtaking nature right in the heart of Manhattan.
2. Meatpacking District / The Highline
The Meatpacking District offers gritty urban backdrops and cobblestone streets. Wearing a pop of color like Nissa + Evan’ blues can bring great contrast to your images. The nearby Highline is a unique setting for NYC engagement photos. In just a short walk, you can encounter cute benches, charming flora, and stunning cityscapes. It can be quite busy with a lot of foot traffic, so you have to embrace the crowds and go with the moment!
3. Tribeca
Like the Meatpacking District, Tribeca also has urban backdrops and cobblestone, but the streets are a bit quieter. Bryan + Frank had their wedding at the Tribeca Rooftop, and I took their portraits on the streets below. You can dip in and out of high-end shops as you stroll and enjoy the company of your sweetheart. Stop for engagement photos in one of Tribeca’s alleyways for a moment that’s all yours. You might even find some loveable graffiti as you walk around!
4. The West Village
Who doesn’t love the Village? It feels romantic and quaint among the hustle and bustle of a busy city. There are adorable cafes to visit and side streets that offer peace and quiet for you and your fiance. Are you both music fans? Have fun recreating Bob Dylan’s famous Freewheelin’ album cover on Jones Street. You can’t go wrong having your NYC engagement photos taken in the West Village!
5. South Street Seaport
South Street Seaport may not be a location you see very often in engagement photos – and that’s why I love it! This area is different than more popular city spots, yet situated by the water for a gorgeous feel. Rose and Adam enjoyed strolling the streets for their NYC engagement photos. They wore soft colors to complement the bold city scape.
6. Dumbo
The Brooklyn Bridge is a classic landmark for NYC engagement photos. Early risers reap the benefits of serenity; walk across the bridge at sunrise to avoid crowds. Dumbo features Brooklyn backdrops and great vantage points for city skyline photos with Manhattan behind you.
